Chronicles of the Time Society: Independence!
Chronicles of the Time Society: Independence! is a first person text-based game that runs in your web browser. It runs best in Google Chrome. This game was made in 2014 as an educational tool as a partnership between middle school social studies teacher Matt Farber (now Dr. Farber, associate professor of Educational Technology at University of Northern Colorado) and game designer Erin Drake Kajioka.
You play as an investigator in the Time Society, solving puzzles in Revolutionary War era Boston. There is a tutorial to bring kids into the format of text-based games, and it has been played in classrooms around the United States. This is mostly a dormant project, but we always love your feedback!
The game is discussed in Dr. Farber's Gamify Your Classroom: A Field Guide to Game-Based Learning.
